Drew loves to draw, paint and create art - it’s a window into his unique mind
Drew, 25, is an asipiring artist. At age 2 1/2, Drew was diagnosed with autism. We all quickly discovered that drawing pictures was a way for him to express his unique view of the world. He’s also a visual learner. From simple line drawings, Drew’s work has matured to include sophisticated watercolor paintings of animals and a super cool series of acrylic paintings of birds and animals in unusual settings.
In Drew’s words, “Art is a big part of my life. I like to draw all the time. It makes me happy.”
All of the sales from Drew’s artwork are devoted to growing his art talents through private art lessons and college-level art classes. Thank you for supporting his education!
Drew creates custom illustrations for Belong Co.
The Belong Collective, a Boise-based nonprofit that provides social and employment opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities, hired Drew to illustrate a set of new “Critters + Coffee” merchandise to promote its coffee cart business.
Drew created a bear, ostrich, otter, elephant and cat for the “Critters + Coffee” promotion. All of the “critters” are holding a cup of fresh Belong Co. coffee. Proceeds from the merchandise sales benefit the nonprofit’s programs.
Hiring Drew to do the illustrations is another way that the Belong Co. is helping to create career opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.
“I am so excited about this collaboration with Drew Stuebner,” said Kendall Peake, Founder and President of the Belong Co. in Boise. “We thought there was no better way to accomplish our mission than by hiring Drew to custom-design some of our merchandise items. We had a pretty specific vision for this merchandise line, and Drew absolutely delivered.”
Drew making art in grade school
Asking Drew to talk about his art has been a great way for him to learn to talk to people in general. Autistic kids generally prefer to live in their own bubble. Talking about art has been a way for Drew to climb out of that bubble and share his thoughts with the rest of the world.
